I believe that everyone deserves the chance to thrive in life. Each person has a need to feel valued and accepted for who they are as a unique individual. This is what I hope to achieve using a collaborative approach.
I offer a counselling service tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. It is about ensuring each client feels listened to, accepted and valued. This helps them gain insight into their own issues and develop solutions which along with new tools and techniques help them transform their life and feel at peace with the world.
The approach I use is Integrative counselling which involves varying the style of counselling according to the needs of the client. The styles of counselling I use include Person Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT. Counselling is a collaborative process which involves working with each client to identify their goals and help them achieve them.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a post graduate diploma in integrative counselling with an experienced pharmacy background who specialises in a variety of areas, including depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, OCD, Cancer, grief and loss, neurodiversity and relationship issues.
I also have understanding of how the journey through breast cancer and other types of cancer can have affect your mental health and quality of life. One of the biggest issues is dealing with uncertainty.
I have a passion for counselling Young People and feel they should be given the chance to thrive. Issues such as family conflicts, academic stress, peer pressure, anxiety and identity issues are just some of the pressures young people have to deal with. I have a Diploma in Counselling Young People and Children and I am a volunteer counsellor at Cross Reach counselling young people (10-18).
I also have a passion for working with people who may have recently been diagnosed, self-identify or are still questioning whether they have Autism, ADHD or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
I have family members with Autism and possibly ADHD and have extensive experience of the difficulties and challenges that can be faced such as sensory overload or burnout, difficulty navigating social situations, challenges with change, exhaustion from masking or camouflaging in order to appear neurotypical etc.
In terms of ADHD the challenges faced can include intense emotions and mood swings, chronic overwhelm or burnout, difficulties with organisation or time blindness, low self esteem and sensory sensitivities. etc. There tends to be a lot of overlap with autism.
I am also a Christian counsellor who can help you make sense of your faith journey and the impact any difficulties or experiences in your life have had on this.
I tailor my counselling skills to each clients unique situation to enable them to gain insight and determine their best way forward in life so they can achieve inner peace. I focus on a strength based approach to help the client value themself. This process is carried out in a safe and confidential space where the client feels at ease.
I am a registered member of the BACP professional body which means I have agreed to work to their ethical framework and to take steps to ensure the counselling I offer is safe and good quality.
